What the FDA-approved product's own application states

Tesamorelin's FDA-approved branded product, Egrifta (now sold as Egrifta WR and Egrifta SV), was approved under BLA 022505 in 1 mg and 2 mg base-per-vial strengths — read directly off FDA's own Drugs@FDA record. Its approved indication is narrow and specific: reduction of excess abdominal fat in HIV-infected adult patients with lipodystrophy. The product's own label states it is "not indicated for weight loss management as it has a weight neutral effect" and that its long-term cardiovascular safety has not been established — a materially different use case than the general body-composition, longevity, or anti-aging framing tesamorelin is often marketed under today.
