Approved in 35+ countries as Zadaxin — never approved in the U.S.

Thymosin Alpha-1's synthetic pharmaceutical form, thymalfasin, is genuinely approved and marketed in more than 35 countries as Zadaxin, for hepatitis B/C and as an immune adjuvant, per a 2020 peer-reviewed review. That is a real international approval record, and it makes this compound's regulatory picture different from almost every other molecule on this calculator hub. What it does not have is FDA marketing approval in the United States: checked live against two independent federal databases, openFDA's Drugs@FDA returns zero matches for "thymalfasin" or "Zadaxin" — no New Drug Application of any kind is on file — and DailyMed's structured-product-label search independently returns zero results. Any FDA orphan-drug designation this compound has carried at points is a separate, narrower status than marketing approval, and this page does not conflate the two.

Real human trial data exists behind its international approval: a meta-analysis of 7 randomized controlled trials (535 patients) found thymosin alpha-1 combined with interferon significantly outperformed interferon alone for chronic hepatitis B. A separate 361-patient randomized trial for severe sepsis found a real but borderline-significant mortality reduction. Neither trial supports any specific dose for the uses this compound is sold for outside a clinical, prescriber-directed setting.

It cannot confirm that a vial matches an internationally-approved Zadaxin product, or that a dose matches either of the two trial protocols described above.
