Wolverine Stack: What the Evidence Shows

The Wolverine stack pairs BPC-157 and TB-500. A real rat study tested that exact combination — and found no added benefit from stacking them.

The "Wolverine stack" takes its name from the Marvel character's fictional rapid healing factor, and it's sold as two peptides combined for exactly that pitch: faster recovery from soft-tissue injury. What's actually in it is BPC-157 and TB-500 — the two most-searched recovery peptides this site covers, each with its own evidence review already published here. This article isn't a repeat of either one. It covers something GLOW's and KLOW's reviews on this site couldn't: a real, controlled study that tested BPC-157 and TB-500 combined, head-to-head against each one alone — the actual "does stacking these help more than either alone" question, checked directly rather than assumed from marketing copy.

What's in the Wolverine stack

Two peptides, no more: BPC-157, a synthetic 15-amino-acid fragment with a large animal literature and three small uncontrolled human pilot studies; and TB-500, a synthetic fragment of thymosin beta-4 with the thinnest record of any peptide this article family covers — zero published human studies of any kind, and one cell-culture study whose own result suggests the wound-healing activity attributed to TB-500 may actually belong to a breakdown product, not TB-500 itself. Sellers market the pairing with explicit synergy language — "BPC-157 works through GH receptor and nitric oxide signaling for localized tissue repair; TB-500... works through actin polymerization and cell migration for systemic tissue remodeling," different mechanisms positioned as complementary. That's a real, checkable claim, distinct from GLOW's or KLOW's marketing in one important way: someone has actually tested it.

The one place this exact combination was actually tested

A 2026 study, published in Joint Diseases and Related Surgery, ran the test this stack's marketing implies has already been settled. Thirty-two rats underwent standardized Achilles tendon transection and surgical repair, then were split into four groups of eight: an untreated control, BPC-157 alone (10 µg/kg/day), TB-500 alone (60 µg/kg/day), and the two combined at the same doses — all dosed intraperitoneally, daily, for four weeks, before biomechanical testing and histological scoring1.

Individually, both peptides showed real, measurable effects: the TB-500 group had significantly higher maximum load to failure than control (p<0.05), and significantly better Bonar and Movin histopathology scores — measures of tendon architecture and collagen organization — than control. That's consistent with what our TB-500 review already reports as the one dedicated TB-500 efficacy study located in this site's research.

The combined group is the result that actually matters for a "stack" product, and it's the one marketing copy doesn't quote. The study's own text: combining BPC-157 and TB-500 "did not confer additional benefits compared to either agent alone1." Not a null result across the board — each peptide individually outperformed control — but stacking them didn't outperform using just one. That is a direct, controlled test of the specific claim "combine these two for a better result than either alone," and it came back negative.

Two caveats belong here, stated as precisely as the study itself states them. First, this is one rat study, not a human trial — the authors describe their own findings as "exploratory" and "preliminary," pending "dose-optimization and longer-term studies." A different dose ratio, a different injury model, or a longer treatment window could produce a different result; this study doesn't rule that out, it just reports what it actually found at the doses and duration it tested. Second, it measured a very specific outcome (tendon repair after surgical transection) — it says nothing about the skin, anti-aging, or general "recovery" claims BPC-157/TB-500 stacks are also sold on. Within its own scope, though, it's the single most direct test available of whether stacking beats going solo, and the answer it produced is no.

Individual evidence, recapped briefly

Neither peptide's own record changes based on the combination result above — each stands or falls on its own evidence, covered in full elsewhere on this site. BPC-157: a large, mechanistically coherent animal literature, and three small, uncontrolled human pilot studies (knee pain, interstitial cystitis, IV safety) from one research group, combined enrollment under 30, no blinding or placebo arm in any of them — plus one currently-recruiting Phase 2 hamstring-strain trial with no results yet. TB-500: the thinnest record here — one rat tendon study (the same one detailed above) and one cell-culture study whose own conclusion questions whether TB-500 itself, or a metabolite of it, is the active ingredient; zero published human studies of any kind. Why we don't publish a Wolverine-stack dosing chart

Same reasoning as this site's GLOW and KLOW reviews: even with the combination study above as real supporting data, that study is one rat model at one fixed dose ratio, testing tendon repair specifically — not a validated human protocol for any use case, and its own headline result was "the combination didn't add benefit," not a number worth building a chart around. BPC-157's own dosage article reports exactly what dose each animal and human BPC-157 study administered (again, not a recommendation — no completed human trial has established one), and the BPC-157 and TB-500 reconstitution calculators handle the vial-to-syringe math for each compound individually. Neither adds up to a stack protocol, because no human study of the stack exists to base one on.

The current regulatory status

BPC-157 and TB-500 have moved through an identical recent timeline: both sat in FDA's Category 2 bulk-substances list (significant safety risk) from 2023, both were removed via procedural nominator withdrawal on April 15, 2026, and both received the same 8-6-1 advisory-committee vote on July 23, 2026 recommending them for the 503A Bulks List — BPC-157 evaluated for ulcerative colitis, TB-500 for wound healing. That's a recommendation, not a rule; formal rulemaking hasn't started for either. Separately, both remain named on the current WADA Prohibited List, banned for tested athletes with no available therapeutic-use exemption. What this means if you're considering a compounded Wolverine-stack product

This is the one blend in this article family where "has anyone actually tested combining these" has a real answer, and the answer is worth sitting with rather than skipping past: yes, once, in rats, for tendon repair specifically — and the combination performed no better than either peptide alone. That doesn't prove stacking never helps; it's a single preliminary animal study, explicitly flagged as such by its own authors, in one injury model. It does mean the specific synergy claim this product is marketed on — that pairing BPC-157 and TB-500 produces something more than either does individually — has been checked, in the one place it's been checked, and came back negative.
